Marry Cristmas and a Happy New Year

This is my last post this year. I’m going on a trip tomorrow and won’t be back till the 2nd. I wish you and your families peaceful and fun holidays!

Spaghetti with brussels sprouts and pecans

This is one of my first recipes I made up myself. (I belive that somebody somewhere invented this combination, so if you know a similar recipe please do share. Or if you have your own that you belive tastes as good or even better, do the same! Thank you!) I bought brussels sprouts and then googled for recipes. But I didn’t find a recipe that would convince me. So I went with my instincts. And I should do that more often. This dish is just amazing!

Špageti z brstičnim ohrovtom in pekan orehi

To je eden prvih receptov, ki sem si jih izmislila sama. ( Prepričana sem, da je nekdo nekje že odkril to kombinacijo, zato prosim tistega, ki pozna podoben recept, da ga objavi. Ali pa če poznaš recept, ki je po tvojem mnenju tako dober ali še boljši kot ta, prosim deli ga z mano. Hvala!) Kupila sem brstični ohrovt in iskala recept. Ampak nisem našla recepta, ki bi me prepričal in tako sem sledila svojim instinktom. Kar bi morala očitno naresti večkrat, ker je bila jed odlična!

scrambled eggs with sataraš

Sataraš (š = sch) is a traditional Croatian food made with bell peppers. But this is my version and if you want the original google it [wink]. This recipe is again simple, quick and healthy. It’s perfect for saturday’s breakfast with family.

Zmešana jajca s satarašom (oz. bolj pravilno ocvrta, pečena …)

Sataraš je hrvaška tradicionalana jed, vedar jo tudi v Sloveniji kar dobro poznamo. Tole pa je moja verzija. Zopet preprost, hiter in zdrav recept. Idealen za sobotni zajtrk z družino.

Mexican quinoa

About 4 years ago I discovered mexican rice in my favourite cook book. It’s so simple to make and so delicious! Then about a year ago I tried quinoa for the first time. My mother made a soup and it tasted awful! I didn’t even want to hear about it ever again, but then I was working as promoter in supermarket. Right next to me there was an amazing cook promoting quinoa. He convinced me to try his dish – quinoa risotto with pumpkin. And then I couldn’t stop eating! I lost that recipe but I hope I find it before the pumpkin season is over.

Now I am trying new things with quinoa and this time I tried to make mexican quinoa. I just now remembered what was missing so it would be perfect – chili! (It is included in the recipe below)

Pred približno 4 leti sem v najljubši kuharici odkrila recept za mehiški riž, preprosto in odlično jed. Nato sem pred kakim letom spoznala kvinojo. Mami je naredila juho in bila je res zelo zanič! Po tem nisem hotela niti slišati besede kvinoja, do nekega dne, ko sem delala promocije v supermarketu. Zraven mene je zelo dober kuhar promoviral kvinojo. Prepričal me je, da se poskusila jed, ki jo je kuhal – rižoto iz kvinoje in buče. In nato je nisem mogla nehat jest! Na žalost sem izgubila recept, ampak upam da ga najdem, preden se konča sezona buč.

Zdaj preizkušam nove recepte s kvinojo in tokrat sem naredila mehiško kvinojo. In ravnokar sem se spomnila sestavine, ki bi jed naredila še boljšo kot je bila – čili! (Sem ga dopisala v spodnji recept.)
