The Zero Waste Home

I found The Zero Waste Home blog a few days ago. The Johnson family have lived zero waste life since 2008. I belive anyone can and should minimize the amount of trash we produce every day. And this blog have inspired me to take action and try to make our home zero waste. I was lucky that my boyfriend thinks it is a great idea and is keen on helping me. I would like to encourage every visitor to go visit Zero Waste Home blog and be inspired to change his/hers lifestyle.

Waste the Johnsons collected in one year! / Smeti, ki so jih Johnsonovi zbrali v enem letu!

Pred nekaj dnevi sem našla The Zero Waste Home blog.

The first reaction from my boyfriend, when I told him about the blog and my intentions to do the same, was silence. I was shocked, that he wasn’t enthusiastic like I was. Then I realized that it does sound scary. No more waste – no more food? No more fun? Just some veggies and fruit? It is hard to imagine how to live a normal life without waste. When I shoved him the blog and explained the thing I would like to change, he was suddenly agreeing with me. Now he is even more enthusiastic than I am!

A list of what we would like to change in the beginning :

– no more plastic bags

– no more plastic bottles

– no more waste bags

– start composting

– no more tetrahedron package (Tetra Pak)

– no more bags for bread

– no more plastic cups, plates, …

So this is a start. For nearly a week we have managed to stick to our resolutions. I don’t like long posts – I never read them, so this is it for this one 🙂 I will be posting more about this topic – for every thing we change one post about how we did it and some tips. It is time for me to post more recipies, isn’t it? 🙂

An average Slovenian family fills 3 cans per week - one with plastic and cardboard, one with organic and one with unrecycable waste. Glas and paper are colleted at eco islands. / Povprečna slovenska družina na teden zapolni 3 smetnjake - enega s plastiko in kartonom, enega z biološkimi odpadki in enega z mešanimi odpadki.

– kompostiranje

Yours truly, A.
