This month is a very busy one for me. It all actually starts in January with my younger sister’s birthday, followed by my own, then my aunt’s, my cousin’s wife’s, my cousin’s, my mother’s, my mother’s in law (to be), my sister’s in law (to be), my grandad’s and finally my brother’s in law (at leat this year since he is born on 29th of February). Not to mention I just got a new job, the school started again and I’m still working as a make up artist as much as possible (this is after all what I want to do in my life). This is why today I am posting pictures of what I have been doing for the past week. No recipe this time.

Februar je zame zelo naporen mesec. Vse skupaj se začne že januarja z rojstnim dnem moje mlajše sestre, sledi moj, nato od moje tete, od bratranca žene,  od moje mami, bratranca, od fantove mami in sestre, od mojega deda in na koncu še od sestrinega moža (vsaj letos je tako, saj ima rojstni dan 29. febrauarja). Poleg tega sem dobila novo študentsko delo, začela so se predavanja na faksu in poskušam čimveč delati na področju ličenja (to je konec koncev stvar, ki jo želim početi v življenju). In zato danes v tej objavi le nekaj slik, kaj sem počela zadnji teden. Tokrat brez receptov.

Lavender Cookies

This has been an amazing week! My first submission to FoodGawker was approved and then two to Dessertstalking and one to Photograzing. Views per day jumped so high I’m near to 1500 clicks to my blog (remember two weeks ago it was 500?). And I have become obsessed with the quality of my photos, not just the quality of the recipes. That is way it took me so long to post something. I’m just not pleased with everything I make and I try and try again, until I have something I am proud of. And I finally made it. So here are amazingly tasting Lavender Cookies!

p.s. Do you think I did a good job?

Za mano je neverjetn teden! Moja prva predloga/prijava na FoodGawker je bila sprejeta in nato dve na Dessertstalking inše ena na Photograzing. Dnevni ogledi bloga so poskočili tako visoko, da sem sedaj blizu 1500 klikov na blog (pred štirinajstimi dnevi sem bila šele pri 500!). In postala sem presej obsedena s kavliteto fotografij, ne le kvaliteto receptov, in zato je trajalo tako dolgo do nove objave. Nisem več zadovoljna z vsem kar naredim in se zato trudim in trudim, dokler ne dobim nekaj, na kar sem ponosna. In končno mi je uspelo. Tako, da vam predstavljam Piškotke s sivko!

Birthday cake for my sister

My little sister celebrated her birthday a few days ago (actually now we are the same age for 5 days, but I can still call her that). My present to her was a cake. She is a huge fan of chocolate and since the last cake I baked turned out so delicious, I had to make it again. This time without the mint, because she doesn’t like it. So this cake was made with the same recipe, only the chocolate is normal cooking chocolate. And this time I decided to do some ganache. To read more about it click on read more (captain obvious).

Moja mlajša sestrica je pred nekaj dnevi praznovala rojstni dan (sicer sva trenutno enako stari za 5 dni, ampak jo vseeno lahko tako kličem). Moje darilo zanjo je bila torta. In ker je velika oboževalka čokolade in ker je moj prejšnji podvig s pečenjem torte tako dobro uspel, sem jo morala naresti še enkrat. Tokrat brez mentola, ker ne mara okusa. Uporabila sem enak recept, le čokolada je bila brez mentola, navadna jedilna čokolada. In tokrat sem se odločila še za preliv. O katerem pa izveš več, če klikneš spodaj read more.

Double Chocolate Sour Cream Cake

Today is a National Chocolate Cake Day! So I wish you all some cake eating! I baked this cake two days ago, not knowing that such a great holiday is coming. 🙂 It was simply made because I celebrated 500 clicks on my blog. For which I wanted to thank you, my lovely readers! So I give you Double Chocolate Sour Cream Cake with a twist!

Danes je Dan čokoladne torte! (vsaj tako pravijo) Torej, želim vsem vam vsaj košček! To torto sem pekla pred dvema dnevoma, ne vedoč, da je prihaja velik praznik. 🙂 Bilo je preprosto zato, ker sem praznovala 500 klikov na moj blog. Za kar sem se hotela zahvaliti vam, moja ljubi bralci! Zato vam dajem Dvojno čokoladno torto s kislo smetano in presenečenjem!

Oven baked potato fries with scallion and sour cream

I was sitting on a train heading home from audition for opera (no, I’m not a singer and I’m not a musician 🙂 can you guess what I am?). I was starving. And a half hour drive is a perfect time to think about food! So I came up with this recipe. It is similar to something I ate in Slovak Republic, something with potatoes, tin foil, sour cream and some spices. But mine turned out to be way better (not that I would want to brag).

V pečici pečen krompir z maldo čebulico in kislo smetano

Sedela sem na vlaku in se peljala domov iz avdicije za opero (ne, nisem pevka, tudi del orkestra ne 🙂 lahko kdo ugotovi, kaj sem?). Bila sem sestradana. In tiste pol ure do moje postaje, je idealen čas za razmišljanje o hrani! In tako sem se domislila tega recepta. Je zelo podoben nečemu, kar sem jedla na Slovaškem, nekaj s kropirjem, folijo, kislo smetano in nekimi začimbami. Ampak moja verzija se je izkazala za veliko boljšo (ne da bi se hotela hvaliti).

Zucchini taquitos

Mexican food is certainly one of my favourites. I never liked vegetables before I tried mexican way of cooking. I know it’s not really mexican what we eat, but I never tried the real deal, so this will do for me. I hope my (yes I can officially say it now!) brother’s in law sister and her husband move here from the States and open real Mexican restaurant 🙂 But until then, I give you my version of taquitos.

Mehiška hrana je gotovo ena mojih najljubših. Nikoli mi ni bila všeč zelenjava, dokler nisem poskusila mehiškega načina kuhanja. Vem, da to kar jemo, ni prava mehiška kuhinja, ampak nikoli še nisem poskusila prave, tako da bo ta kar dobra. Upam, da se sestra mojega svaka (zdaj uradno) in njen mož preselita sem iz Amerike in odpreta pravo mehiško restavracijo:) Ampak do takrat, je tukaj moj različica taquitosov.

Quick No Knead Bread

I never liked baking bread. It never turned out fluffy and airy, so I rather bought it. But when I was making a Czech dinner I wanted to make home made bread, so I could show my family the whole Czech experience. When I was browsing through internet I came across this recipe. It is easy and you don’t need to mess up the whole kitchen to make it. And the taste is surprising, because of the honey used.

Nikoli nisem rada pekla domačega kruha. Nikoli ni uspel puhast in zračen, zato sem ga rajši kupila. Toda, ko sem za družino hotela pripraviti češko večerjo, sem želela narediti domač kruh, za popolno doživetje. Ko sem brskala po internetu sem naletela na ta recept. Je zelo enostaven in za pripravo ni potrebno razmetati celotne kuhinje. Sam okus pa je presenetljiv, zaradi uporabe medu.

Garlic soup

I spent the holidays in Slovak and Czech Republic, more accurate we went on a road trip. From Slovenia to Vienna, Bratislava, Mikulov, Brno, Telč, Česke Budejovice, Česky Krumlov and back to Slovenia. I took a photograph of everything we ate, but they have such bad lightning in restaurants, so they are a bit blurry and underexposed. They eat a lot of meat so a vegetarian is often left hungry, not to mention if you are vegan. They put cheese on everything! What I ate almost every day is garlic soup or česneková polévka.

Božične in novoletne praznike sem preživela na Slovaškem in Češkem, bolj natančno, odpravili smo se se na road trip. Iz Slovenije na Dunaj, v Bratislavo, Mikulov, Brno, Telč, Česke Budejovice, Česky Krumlov in nazaj v Slovenijo. Fotografirala sem vse, kar smo jedli, ampak je bila v restavracijah tako slaba razsvetljava, da so fotografije bolj slabe. Jedo veliko mesa, tako da vegetarijanci pogosto ostanejo lačni, kaj šele, če si vegan. Sir dajo na čisto vse! Tako da sem skoraj vsak dan jedla česnovo juho ali česneková polévka.

Spaghetti with brussels sprouts and pecans

This is one of my first recipes I made up myself. (I belive that somebody somewhere invented this combination, so if you know a similar recipe please do share. Or if you have your own that you belive tastes as good or even better, do the same! Thank you!) I bought brussels sprouts and then googled for recipes. But I didn’t find a recipe that would convince me. So I went with my instincts. And I should do that more often. This dish is just amazing!

Špageti z brstičnim ohrovtom in pekan orehi

To je eden prvih receptov, ki sem si jih izmislila sama. ( Prepričana sem, da je nekdo nekje že odkril to kombinacijo, zato prosim tistega, ki pozna podoben recept, da ga objavi. Ali pa če poznaš recept, ki je po tvojem mnenju tako dober ali še boljši kot ta, prosim deli ga z mano. Hvala!) Kupila sem brstični ohrovt in iskala recept. Ampak nisem našla recepta, ki bi me prepričal in tako sem sledila svojim instinktom. Kar bi morala očitno naresti večkrat, ker je bila jed odlična!

scrambled eggs with sataraš

Sataraš (š = sch) is a traditional Croatian food made with bell peppers. But this is my version and if you want the original google it [wink]. This recipe is again simple, quick and healthy. It’s perfect for saturday’s breakfast with family.

Zmešana jajca s satarašom (oz. bolj pravilno ocvrta, pečena …)

Sataraš je hrvaška tradicionalana jed, vedar jo tudi v Sloveniji kar dobro poznamo. Tole pa je moja verzija. Zopet preprost, hiter in zdrav recept. Idealen za sobotni zajtrk z družino.
